PHOTO PROPS

We've been busy sewing, cutting, dyeing, and creating new photo props for newborns and kids!  We like to use props that create interesting photos but are not cliche or take away from the child's personality.  There is nothing worse than missing out a silly smile or a child's dimpled grin just to get them to wear some outfit.  (It's almost as bad as an over-photoshopped image!)

So we've been making props that allow us to create interesting, creative, and sometimes dramatic photos without losing the ability to let the kid be a kid.

Many times flowers bought for little girls are so BIG that they overtake the entire photo. I'll admit I've been guilty of using this type of prop before. So instead, I had local shop Glorified Rubbish make us some custom flowers that are small so that they add a bit of color but don't take away from the baby.

{Order your own custom bows and flowers from Glorified Rubbish: Click Here... and be sure to 'like' her page too!}

See the blanket they are laying on? That textured prop was made by my very dear friend - and she is making lots more in different colors too!

We did jump on the bow-tie band-wagon and had fun making some bows that will work in little girls hair or as bow-ties for the boys!

Other projects and antique finds have included a vinyl posing puck (easy clean-up from newborns), colorful wraps for newborns, and a rustic crate and trunk for the kiddos to play on.

See some of our new props in use:

Props: Baby is laying on the vinyl posing puck, newborn wrap

Props: Antique trunk, burlap
Props: Apple crate, burlap, textured blanket, newborn wrap

If you are looking to bring some of your own props to a shoot keep the size in mind and ask yourself:
Do you want the photo to be all about the prop, or all about your precious child?

Bring on the babies and kiddos!!!

Smiles,
The LBP Team
